Abstract

Creating a globally sustainable structure goes beyond economic indicators and necessitates the effective use of the green concept. In this context, analysing the green transformation performance of OECD countries, encompassing both developed and developing nations, and revealing their current status, is critical. This study aims to determine the impact of green growth, governance, and green technology innovation on sustainable development goals in OECD countries, in environmental and social contexts. Using the CS-ARDL method, this study, while accounting for the analysis's assumptions, performed cross-sectional dependence tests, followed by unit root tests, heterogeneity analysis, and cointegration tests. The analysis results, which satisfied the necessary conditions for the CS-ARDL method, yielded short- and long-term results for the selected models. Examination of the results reveals that, in the environmental dimension of sustainability, green growth reduces carbon emissions in the short term but has no significant long-term effect. Furthermore, it was found that green technology increases carbon emissions in the short term. When the social dimension of sustainability is examined, it is observed that economic growth positively affects the total workforce employed in a given year in both the short- and long-term. In contrast, other variables do not have a statistically significant effect, as the analysis reveals. No studies within the OECD that simultaneously use the variables included in this study have been found in the literature. In this context, this study, conducted using the CS-ARDL method, is expected to make significant contributions to the literature.
