The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of academic staff at Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University's perceptions of their workload on their satisfaction, and to identify the mediating roles of motivation and quality of work-life in this effect. Data were collected from 394 academic staff members using a survey method and analysed using AMOS 22. As a result of the analyses conducted to determine direct relationships; the effect of workload on employee satisfaction was insignificant, the effect of workload on motivation was significant and negative, the impact of motivation on employee satisfaction was substantial and positive, the effect of workload on work-life quality was significant and negative, the impact of work-life quality on employee satisfaction was substantial and positive, and the effect of motivation on work-life quality was significant and positive. Mediation analyses revealed that motivation partially mediates the relationship between workload and employee satisfaction, that work-life quality partially mediates this relationship, and that motivation and work-life quality jointly partially mediate it. The study has revealed noteworthy findings on workload and employee satisfaction in academic institutions. It is recommended that concrete and implementable services be provided to enable academic staff to achieve a healthier, more productive, and more satisfying work environment.
