Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
All manuscript submissions must comply with the following requirements:
-
The submitted manuscript must not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication by another journal.
- Please read the BMIJ Journal Article Preliminary Review Criteria carefully.
-
For studies requiring Ethics Committee approval, the manuscript submission will be rejected if the Ethics Committee Approval Document is not provided or if the data collection date precedes the date of Ethics Committee approval.
-
For studies requiring Ethics Committee approval, information regarding the approval (name of the committee, date, and approval/reference number) must be provided in the Methods section of the manuscript as well as on the first/last page.
-
In scientific studies requiring Ethics Committee approval, approval must first be obtained from the relevant Ethics Committee before data collection begins. The data collection start date must not precede the date of Ethics Committee approval.
-
For manuscripts with two or more authors, all authors must be added to the submission system in the same order in which they appear in the publication, and one author must be designated as the primary contact for editorial correspondence.
-
All manuscripts submitted to the journal will undergo a preliminary editorial assessment in terms of scientific adequacy. Manuscripts deemed scientifically inadequate by the Editorial Board will be rejected without being sent for further evaluation.
-
For manuscripts for which the editorial decision is “Revisions Required,” the authors must complete the requested revisions and upload the revised manuscript to the journal system within a maximum of 10 (ten) days. If the revised manuscript is not uploaded within this period, the Editorial Board will issue a Reject/Not Publishable decision.
-
For manuscripts for which the editorial decision is “Resubmit for Review,” the authors must complete the requested revisions and upload the revised manuscript to the journal system within a maximum of 15 (fifteen) days. If the revised manuscript is not uploaded within this period, the Editorial Board will issue a Reject/Not Publishable decision.
-
Manuscripts that have undergone the peer-review process and have been rejected by BMIJ will not be accepted for resubmission to the journal.
-
The References section must be presented under a separate heading at the end of the manuscript. References must not be numbered and must be arranged alphabetically according to the authors’ surnames. The reference list must be prepared in accordance with APA 7th edition standards. For information on APA 7 citation and referencing style for both in-text citations and the References section, please visit our webpage: https://www.bmij.org/index.php/1/apa. For more detailed information, please see the Manuscript Layout Template (New) section under the Information for Authors menu on the journal’s homepage.
-
If you have obtained an ETHICS COMMITTEE APPROVAL DOCUMENT for a survey or other research conducted as part of your study, please upload this document to the journal system by selecting ETHICS COMMITTEE DOCUMENT as the file type under Submission → Upload File. For manuscripts accepted for publication, the Ethics Committee Approval Document will be appended to the end of the published article.
-
Since the journal applies a double-blind peer-review system, the manuscript file must not contain the names or other identifying information of the authors.
-
Manuscripts submitted to the journal may be withdrawn by the author(s) for cancellation of the evaluation and publication process within a maximum of 7 days from the date of submission. After this period, submitted manuscripts cannot be withdrawn, even if they have not yet entered the peer-review process.
-
For manuscripts submitted in English, linguistic evaluation is conducted after the manuscript has been scientifically accepted for publication. Once the author(s) are informed by the Editorial Board that an English-language manuscript has been accepted for publication, this means that the manuscript has been deemed scientifically suitable for publication. However, if the manuscript is found to be linguistically inadequate following the linguistic evaluation, or if the author(s) fail to make the linguistic revisions requested by the journal, the manuscript will be rejected. Authors submitting manuscripts in English are deemed to have accepted the outcome of the linguistic evaluation. For detailed information regarding this process, please see the Linguistic Evaluation page under the Manuscript Evaluation menu.
-
The Extended Abstract sections of manuscripts submitted in Turkish will undergo LINGUISTIC REVIEW. Even if a manuscript has been accepted for publication following the peer-review process, it will be included in the PUBLICATION SCHEDULE only after the required revisions have been completed if its Extended Abstract is found to be linguistically inadequate. Manuscripts deemed inadequate in the linguistic review will not be scheduled for publication until the necessary corrections have been made.
-
All registered users of the journal, including Readers, Authors, Reviewers, and Editors, are required to enter their ORCID iD in their journal profile. The evaluation process will not be initiated for manuscripts submitted by authors who have not provided an ORCID iD. You can register for an ORCID iD at http://orcid.org.
-
The author(s) of manuscripts accepted for publication are deemed to have agreed that their manuscripts may be published in any issue deemed appropriate by the Editor.
-
The manuscript must be formatted as follows: A4 page size; 2.5 cm margins; main headings in 12 pt bold; subheadings in 10 pt bold; body text in 10 pt regular; single line spacing; one blank line between paragraphs; and paragraphs beginning at the left margin without indentation.
-
Since 2019, journals indexed in the TR Dizin database have been required to indicate the type of each published article (Research Article or Review Article). Therefore, when submitting your manuscript to the journal, please indicate the manuscript type at the top of the manuscript.
-
Before submitting your manuscript, please carefully review the BMIJ Manuscript Submission Guide.
-
All manuscript submissions will undergo a plagiarism/similarity check. Following the similarity screening, both the similarity rate (maximum 20%) and the nature of the detected similarities will be evaluated before a decision to accept or reject the manuscript is made. A high similarity rate may arise when passages from sources are reproduced using the same words and sentence structures even though the sources have been properly cited. In such cases, the author(s) must rewrite the sections highlighted in the similarity report in their own words and resubmit the revised manuscript to the editorial e-mail address.
-
For information regarding the journal’s publication and evaluation process, please visit the Editorial and Publication Workflow and Timeline page under the ABOUT section on the journal homepage.
-
